Scallop Pearls


Scallop pearl is another non-nacreous calcareous concretion from the (scallop) pectinidae members. They are unique in shape and they are usually in round, oval, or button shape. They could size up to 40 carats. They are usually rare maroon and their color is mostly in orange, pink and deep purple. A scallop pearl has an exclusive 3-d effect inside the reflective platelets. A scallop pearl has a flash effect which is closed  to an appearance of the conch pearl.

They are mostly found at the coast of Baja California and even in the coastal waters of Central and North America .
